In March 1999, gas prices doubled in Ecuador and mass protest erupted throughout the country as a result. The citizens employed a successful protest technique by digging trenches in the road and lighting tires on fire. It brought the countries economy to a standstill and the government was forced to compromise.This scene shows street kids in the middle of the chaos.
